- nice secondary laptop
- I'm not going to ad anything new to the positive reviews here, but you need to know few things before you buy the 2G.
4G 630 MHz stock CPU speed, easy to overclock compared to the 540 MHz in the 2G, no overclocking capability.I know I could be right or wrong
5200 mAh battery compared to 4400 mAh in the 2G
upgradeable system memory up to 2 GB on the 4G no upgrading for the 2G - 2008-03-01, 4 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Eee2G computer
- It was not what I had hoped it would be. Needed a mouse, which I found out too late. Did not complete initial log in because of difficulty having to log in with touchpad which was way too sensitive and caused me to make errors which could not be corrected. I tried to do a few other things and had a hard time because I was not used to it. I could not use the disks to set it up because there was no place to put the disks into and my other computer is a MacBook and the disks are for a PC.

- incredibly handy, great value
- This little PC is ideal for someone who wants to be able to work and access the internet on the go. I am a college student, and although there is no way that you could replace a desktop PC with one of these things, it is an ideal way to take documents and other work to all the various places you need to go. The keyboard is very easy to use, the computer is incredibly quiet and it's size is just unbeatable.
Word of advice: Make sure to change to full desktop mode to uncover the true genius of this machine. Although the computer does not come with instructions on how to do this, you should be able to find them online pretty easily. - 2008-02-28, 4 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Great value, but some issues to consider
- Over all, I'm very happy with this product, and glad I bought it, but you should consider the following points:
a) You really need additional storage. I bought an 8GB SD card.
b) This version of the Eee does not come with an e-mail program. You need to download and install Thunderbird. How to do so is not obvious for someone new to Linux.
c) Once you learn how to go beyond the simplified interface you discover that it comes with a fax program, but this version of the Eee lacks a fax modem. If you need to send faxes, buy the next version up.
TIP If you are confronted with a dialog box that is bigger than the screen you can Alt-drag it so you can see the hidden part of the box. - 2008-02-26, 7 of 11 people found this review helpful, Rated:
