Very Frustrating!
I was SO excited about this product and ordered two. They both leak everywhere. Also, when I pour milk into it from the refrigerator, the kanteen is so cold that my toddler can't hold it. We had to cut up a sock and put it around the kanteen, which was actually fine if that were the only issue. When I first fill it and shake it around it doesn't leak. Then when my son drinks out of it and puts it down, milk spurts out from every possible place whether I tighten or loosen the top. I also bought a stainless steel straw cup by Thermos(which claims no BPAs in the straw parts). With the straw cup you know it will leak if it tips over, but at least it is totally leak proof if the top is closed.

Cost effective & green containers for water, iced tea, etc
I wanted to stop buying bottled water or tea, yet still have the convenience of grabbing a bottle to go when heading out the door. I have 8 Klean Kanteen containers: a mix of 18 oz and 12 oz with a mix of poly loop and flat caps. Not only am I saving money on cold beverages by using my own water and brewing my own tea, I also reduce the need to recycle. One great feature is that the caps fit both the 12 oz and 18 oz kanteens, so no need to sort through to find one that fits.
Only warning is that the caps are not dish-washer safe. I didn't know that until I read the FAQ on the Klean Kanteen web site. Not an issue, just wish that piece of info had been included with the containers.

Good but needs some design improvement
The bottle is of excellent quality. However, it's designed so that the brim is not covered (notice the cap,) so it can get dirty if it falls to the ground or if one touches it with dirty hands.

Great water bottle
I've tried all sorts of reusable water bottles including high end plastic ones and Sigg. Klean Kanteen is my favorite though. I have the 27 oz, the 40 oz and my 5 year old has the 18 oz which he absolutely LOVES-he's a big water drinker. My husband just ordered the 18 oz for work too. We use the Sports cap with all of them.
Klean Kanteen bottles are extremely durable. They will ding if they are banged or dropped hard. But you won't sprout a leak. The Sports Cap is great. I never liked the caps on Sigg bottles. (Sigg's always seemed to release a little trickle of water and made an annoying sound.) I like the fact that the caps work on all sized bottles. It's extremely practical. When I bought my son's 18 oz bottle I also ordered extra Sports Caps; I like knowing that I can use them on any of our bottles. (Note: a previous reviewer mentioned that Klean Kanteen places the bar code sticker inside the cap. I agree this is a stupid place for it and I was really annoyed about it. However I've found that if you peel off as much sticker as possible, the rest of it rubs off fairly easily with olive oil or vegetable oil.) I'll also mention that they used to make the Sports Cap in white. I suspect that when they switched to black caps they might have made a design change because the old white caps used to occasionally leak, but I haven't had that problem with the new black ones.
But the thing that I really love about these bottles is that the opening isn't so small that it becomes difficult to clean them out. Sigg bottles have very narrow openings and are a pain to clean. Before you use the bottle for the first time wash it out several times and you won't have any metallic taste.
About the only thing that I felt Sigg has over Klean Kanteen are the pretty colors.
My only complaint is that there isn't much of a selection of insulated covers that fit my 40 oz bottle. During a visit to SeaWorld in Orlando I found a nice one with a shoulder strap in their gift shop. It was sold with a really crappy and cheap plastic drink bottle which I ditched-but my 40 oz Klean Kanteen fit perfectly!

Klean Kanteens Need A Duck For Cover!
Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottles: All Sizes, All Styles, Choose From Steel Caps or Poly Caps. Mix & Match!
I bought the 18, 27 and 40 oz. bottles to replace the plastic bottles I had been re-using. The Klean Kanteens are a bit pricey for my pocketbook but I bought them anyway. The one item that would make it worth the cost would be a cover made from cotton ducking material and shoulder strap for them just like a real canteen! These are difficult to carry along without the accessory. Otherwise, it does what it's supposed to do.
