Chirps like a bird
I got this bottle with the sport cap. It's really nice in concept, but there are some problems with it. First of all, the sport cap chirps loudly like a bird when you drink from it, which is rather embarassing. Secondly, I, too, find that it imparts a strong metallic taste to the water. I haven't given up on it -- maybe I will try switching to another type of cap and see if there's some way I can clean it to improve the taste. I really support the effort to make a safe water bottle, and I hope Klean Kanteen will work on fixing the problems.

Stainless, Good = Plastic, Bad
For anyone who drinks water, Klean Kanteen is definitely the way to go, no build up of foul odors or tastes with stainless. Fresh, cold, mountain spring water and even water from the tap will stay cold longer and taste better than ordinary plastic. This bottle will last you a super long time and your friends will want one, too.

Great Alternative
I'm a college student and I started worrying about Nalgene's plastic after doing a class project. So I switched to this Klean Kanteen. A semester later, it has worked out great. Unlike Nalgenes, this is easy to clean and the water doesn't taste weird after a few months. It is a bit bulky, but I really don't notice a difference in terms of weight. The downsides? I does look like you a drinking out of a fuel canister and its lack of transparency might lead people to suspect it's actually vodka is disguise. I'd also purchase the new loop cap one, since the flat top one has a lot fewer carrying options. I do love that the caps are interchanable, so if I get one of the new smaller ones I don't have to buy new caps.

Good for holding various liquids at the office
The dentist's office had misc mouthwash liquids kept in plastic containers. I thought the plastic containers looked unattractive, so started looking for stainless steel containers. I found the 18 oz Klean Kanteen to be the perfect solution. The stainless steel goes with the office decor and turns out to be a healthier choice. I didn't know plastic containers were so nasty.

addendum to other 40 oz review---
I didn't mean to be so harsh. I AM happy with my 4 bottles... and still recommend the company- just check the cap fitment, so you don't end up with a bad fit. After all- these guys are trying to use something better for your health than Lexan with it's bad chemicals.... and in that regard, they are right on.
