Perry Mason

Average Customer Rating: Recommend

Perry Mason is an attorney who specializes in defending seemingly indefensible cases. With the aid of his secretary Della Street and investigator Paul Drake, he often finds that by digging deeply into the facts, startling facts can be revealed. Often relying on his outstanding courtroom skills, he often tricks or traps people into unwittingly admitting their guilt.

Not me either
I have to agree with the rest of those devoted Perry Mason fans. I go one step further: I'm a Raymond Burr fan! Burr was perhaps the best villain ever created by the film noir mills of the late 40's and early 50's. Fans must've rejoiced when he got the part of Perry Mason.
Perry Mason was one of the best crafted television shows ever. For Paramount to release this "50th Annniversary Edition" with drips and drabs of episodes from various seasons is tantamount ot defacing artwork at the Louvre! Please, Paramount, if you're listening to us: hurry up with releasing the REST of the seasons and fast! I certainly hope that you're listening, but I sincerely doubt it.

We Want Season Three! We Want Season Three!
What gives, Paramount? Why issue this hodge-podge of episodes? I thought that maybe Paramount was trying to pull a "cheap one" by giving us a release that provided some of the remaining episodes that were published on VHS and DVD by Columbia House, but I found only three of these episodes were previously released by Columbia House. So they have taken the time and expense to release 9 episodes heretofore not yet released. Why not just continue with Season Three?!!! And release it at one time!!!
I give Perry Mason, the TV series, 5 stars, but Paramount's release schedule Zero stars.
Paramount, I hope you are listening!

Just Say No!
As a devoted Perry Mason fan, I've purchased the last four half-season DVD sets.
Yes, I grumbled at having them released as half-seasons, being expensive and having no "bonus" extras but I still enjoyed them and I hope the rest of the series makes its way to DVD.
But I draw the line at this contrived "Anniversary" edition which is just a shoddy attempt to extract even more money from long-suffering Mason fans!
Well Paramount, I ain't biting. You've gone to the well once too often.

somebody should be fired here....
There is probably a rationale to the painfully slow approach to the release of past episodes of this deservedly successful series from the Golden Age of TV, but I don't know what it is.
This 50th anniversary release will likely strike fear into the hearts of Perry Mason fans that the owners of the rights to this series intend to stop here.
Selling this series on DVD should not be approached like hawking past episodes of say Dancing with the Stars or American Idol or other recent shows that are basically glorified screensavers for people who would watch anything that moves, including dog food commercials and You-Tube sightings of Brittany Spears.
The fans of Perry Mason merit a more intelligent approach to DVD marketing and distribution than they have been getting. They are likely to be literate, educated and folks with time to sit and watch.
If sales have been disappointing, I would urge them to release the rest in one disgusting large package, stick a humungous price tag on it and get it over with, before Alzheimer's erodes significant parts of an audience who loved this series and have awaited its release on DVD.
Please someone at Viacom, WAKE UP!
