Outstanding coffee -- even for Seattle!
You may know that we Seattle residents are mad for coffee. We love it and are very selective about quality. And quite simply, the quality of coffee that comes out of this simple device is wonderful. I never, ever use my drip coffee machine anymore. And I rarely bother stopping by any of the more than 20 espresso shops that are within walking distance of my home. There's no point, because this coffee press makes coffee that simply tastes great.

The press is very easy to use, and there's nothing complex or even very clever about it. It takes under 1 minute to clean it off and fill it up, then 4 to 5 minutes before the coffee is ready to drink. Bear in mind there is no feature for keeping the coffee warm; you need to serve it all within a few minutes, or expect to re-heat it in the microwave.

It cleans up very quickly in either the dishwasher or the sink. And replacements are available if you happen to break the glass part. Unless you own a fancy espresso machine (not the cheap basic kind), you simply won't find a better cup of coffee at home -- or indeed, at many restaurants. Yum.

Worth the work!!!!
It troubles me to see everyone complaining about the work involved in using the Bodum press. First of all, it really is not that complicated. And second, and more importantly, sometimes a little extra effort is necessary to get good results... GREAT results in this case! So seriously, get over the thing about the work. This item is not hard to use, and the coffee that it makes is out of this world fantastic!

Best coffee I've ever had
I previously owned a (much) smaller version of this press, which made an excellent cup of coffee. But that was the problem. It only made a CUP of coffee. I usually have two, and what if others want coffee? It takes a while, going one cup at a time.

Needless to say, I upgraded to this larger press, which makes about 3 times more coffee. It makes the best coffee ever - I could never go back to a junky old drip coffee maker after this. Yeah, it's more work than a drip coffee maker, but really, would you rather have quick, easy coffee that tastes bad, or a delicious cup of coffee that takes 5 minutes more?

Using this is like steeping tea - you boil some water, grind some coffee beans (I hope you're grinding your own coffee beans!) and pour the water over the coffee grounds to let them steep for 4 minutes. Then you push the knob down, which filters delicious coffee into the water and leaves the grounds at the bottom of your pot. Then, voila! You've got about 3 cups of yummy coffee, depending on to what extent you water your cup down with cream and sugar.

If you're one of those people who just CAN'T WAIT for their coffee, you'd be better off getting a typical drip coffee maker. But if you love coffee, and want it to taste as good as it possibly can, you have to buy this press.

Better than a drip coffee maker
I use this thing every day. Looks and feels very high-quality, like it might last a very long time. Once you get the hang of it, it makes a consistently great cup of coffee, better than any drip coffee maker. Make sure you use coarsely ground beans, otherwise the coffee can get kind of gritty. The only way you're getting 8 cups of coffee out of this thing is to use it twice. It only makes 4 cups, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars.
