- Still too expensive and too slow
- Why is it that this company thinks the public wants to buy a new computer or more memory every time they get the latest version of their expensive OS? A better alternative is out there and it is high time consumers demanded some more for their money. If you could have something better for pennies or even for free, would you not want to try it? Go ahead, try Ubuntu 8.04 DVD and see what I mean. I use Vista daily at work because I have to use what the boss chooses. I use Ubuntu daily at home because it is better and has far more applications available for the things I need without the cost.

- The Aero interface is impressive. I like to see things get sharper and cleaner looking (we like better graphics in our video games, why not in our operating systems?). XP looks drab in comparison. In fact, when I use XP now I almost laugh at how simple it is.
I have had some glitches and crashes, which are obnoxious of course, but not enough to rant and rave like the complainers. Oh, and a hot tip for some people. You will need some newer hardware to really enjoy Vista (a dual core processor and 2gigs of RAM will suffice). Stop being cheap, just pay Microsoft the money, get a new computer if needed and enjoy the latest in technology. You truly do not understand what you are missing until you have tried it. My newer computer (core 2 duo 2.2ghz, 3 gigs Ram) absolutely puts my old one to shame (2.6ghz P4, 1 gig Ram) and uses less power in the process! This is progress folks! Get on the train already...jeesh.
If you hate Microsoft that much, go start your own company and do it better for the same cost to consumers (since Mac's are so outrageously priced, there really isn't a better alternative for most, and Linux is a joke, don't even bring that up). - 2008-08-26, 0 of 1 people found this review helpful, Rated:

- A COMPLETE DISASTER
- nothing works. two camcorders (sharp and sony), two MP3 players, a scanner, my maxtar hard external hard drive, my kids internet machine, my belkin mouse, almost ALL my software like PrintShop, business management and accounting, etc..nothing works. After spending months with tech support from all these companies, I gave up, and got my old XP computer back on line.
Vista is pure GARBAGE. If you want to toss out all your expensive toys, get VISTA. They even messed up the great Windows Media 2005 experience,..now it's a god awful slog to get anything done.
In the six months I suffered with Vista, I couldn't find ONE SINGLE thing it does better than XP. Unbelievably, it does everything WORSE,..you can't perform a single function without being pestered by "are you sure?" a pop ups. - Vista doesn't support several programs.
- I've been a dedicated Windows user since Windows '95. The problem with this operating system is several of your programs that were working perfectly well with XP will not work at all with Vista HP. There are not enough drivers to support the numerous programs that a user might have on their computer. And it's been over a year since Vista was released. It seems to me that this could have been rectified by now. I'm thinking about upgrading to ultimate so that I will have all the necessary drivers that are offered. When I'm ready to use a program I don't want to see a message that says "Windows Vista Does Not Support xxxxx xxxxx." I even bought one of those programs that supposely had all the drivers that Vista HP needs, which was a waste of money. My advice is if you're going to buy Vista, go ahead and spend a few more dollars and get the Ultimate Version.
