Worth every penny !
Wanted to get the A650, but the price difference didn't seem worth the feature difference. Very happy with performance so far!!!

sound
hdtv ln52a550 THE SOUND IS NOT GOOD. IT SOUNDS LIKE A CHEAP RADIO. I TRIED ALL THE SOUND ADJUSTMENTS BUT IT MAKES LITTLE DIFFERENCE. NO MATTER IF YOU PUT IT ON MUSIC,GAMES ,NORMAL OR ANY OF THE OTHERS IT STILL DOES NOT SOUND LIKE YOU EXPECT A HDTV TO SOUND. I ALSO ADJUSTED THE FREQUENCES AND THAT WAS OF NO HELP

Great Quality at an even Greater Price
I had been thinking of buying a larger screen LCD TV for about a year but I needed to wait because I bought two 37" TV a year and a half ago for $1,000. each. Then I found this 550 model Samsung at such a great price, I didn't want to pass up this opportunity. The TV is great and I haven't even gotten HD put on it yet. Also I couldn't believe it when the delivery service completely set the TV up for me.

Awesome TV - couldn't be happier with it.
This TV is amazing. You will love it. It arrived last week and was very easy to install (it was also lighter than what I expected. I was a little concerned of the weight because it was going on a glass top TV stand).
The picture quality is outstanding. I had a few friends around on the weekend and they were all stunned by the quality.
Some reviewers have commented on the poor sound quality. It's not that bad, but sure, it's not that great. But what do you expect? If you can afford this TV, then adding some decent speakers into the package shouldn't be too much hassle. The TV is designed to look great and clunky speakers on the side would take away from that.
I'm a gamer as well and the responsiveness of the screen is fantastic.
Overall, I am really satisfied with this purchase. 5 out of 5!

Sweet!
Love this TV! As with all HD televisions, you really need at least a digital signal to get the best picture. An HD signal is even better. If you don't have either of these, then the picture may actually appear worse than on a tube TV. In other words, if you only have analog cable or a broadcast signal, this TV (and others like it) won't do you much good (except on DVD or other high quality sources). Your situation should improve when broadcast signals go to digital next year.
The only things I don't like about this TV are more quibbles than anything else. I wish I could turn off the chimes that play when the TV is turned on or off. Those seem unnecessary to me. The 32 inch Samsung we have allows you to do this, but this one doesn't. Also, I don't see a way to add text to the channels in the list. I don't think this TV has that option, so you either have to know your channels by heart or have a guide handy. The remote doesn't operate a VCR/DVD unless you have a Samsung player with that capability. That option is only on their high-end players, so it's mostly worthless.
