- Great TV. Questionable delivery.
- I've had this TV for about 4 weeks now. I'm using it with an HD cable DVR and a Blu-Ray player. We also use it with our Play Station 2. The picture has been great from all sources. The sound quality is excellent.
The delivery from Amazon was a little questionable. When the TV was shipped Amazon sent me an email saying that I would be phoned by the shipper to schedule a delivery. The shipper never contacted me. When the scheduled delivery date passed I asked Amazon for the shipper's phone number. Amazon did not have it (they did confirm that the shipper should call me at the phone number that Amazon had on file, they also confirmed the phone number). So, I used the shipper's phone number from their web site. Sure, enough they did not even have my phone number on file. They said they had sent a post card to me, but I never received it. Anyway, the shipper set a delivery date and told me that I would be called 1 hour before the delivery. They never called me, but luckily my wife was home when they showed up. The end result was to delay the delivery by about a week. The TV was fine when it arrived, just late.
I also have a friend who bought a TV from Amazon and received it via the same shipping company and had a very similar experience. - 2008-05-30, 7 of 7 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Make sure YOU'RE available!
- The TV is great. No problems.
If you get the "white glove" treatment, be forewarned. It took me two weeks to arrange to get the set after it had already arrived in my state. It was sent to a holding place 90 miles away. The delivery service is in our area twice a week, only from 8:00 to 12:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since my wife and I are both teachers; there is no way we could be here. They transferred our set to another shipping company and delivered it to my parents' home instead, ergo no "white glove" treatment involved.
The TV has been great. The picture is adequate, the sound is acceptable, and the price was what made it worthwhile. I'd say buy it, but read the fineprint on the shipping rider. - 2008-05-30, 2 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Great TV
- Love the TV. Beautiful picture and sound with plenty of connections. Amazon's delivery was great, they set it up for me and helped me check for burnt out pixels, of which there were none. Will enjoy for many many years!

- Superb product, Great price, Late Delivery
- After extensive research and watching this LCD change price 27 times in 14 days, I bought from Amazon at $368 below list. Delivery from 6AVE was never shown to be in process. Two emails to Amazon were ignored. The product showed up three days late. No white glove delivery service. Very easy to unpack, plug and play. Bottom lines: Great product, great price, poor delivery progress reporting and late delivery.

- NIRVANA VIA SANSUNG!
- I PURCHASED THE 40" SAMSUNG SERIES 5 ON MAY 21, 2008. CEVA CALLED ME SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT, AND IT WAS DELIVERED ON MAY 28, RIGHT AFTER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND. THEY OPENED THE BOX, SET IT UP, AND MADE SURE IT PLAYED BEFORE LEAVING, SO THEY EARNED A $10 TIP. I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN SOME NEGATIVE REVIEWS FOR CEVA DELIVERY, BUT I'M GUESSING IT DEPENDS ON WHAT PART OF THE COUNTRY YOU LIVE IN. IN THE NYC AREA THE DELIVERY SERVICE IS USUALLY GOOD TO EXCELLENT. THE TV PICTURE IS OUTSTANDING WITH VERY FEW ADJUSTMENTS, ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF THE MENUS. THE MOST DIFFICULT PART IS FIGURING OUT THAT WHEN YOU ADJUST A PARTICULAR SETTING SOMETHING ELSE MAY SHUT DOWN. JUST KEEP IT SIMPLE AND DON'T DRIVE YOURSELF CRAZY TRYING TO GET THE PERFECT PICTUE. SAMSUNG HAS DONE MOST OF THE WORK. HIGH DEFINITION STATIONS ARE SURREAL, AND THE SD ONES ARE GOOD, ALL WITHOUT MONSTER CABLES. WIRELESS SENNHEISER HEADPHONES PERFORMED AS THE ICING ON THE CAKE. AS SOON AS HEADPHONES ARE PLUGGED IN THE TV SOUND IS MUTED, AND IT'S UP, UP AND AWAY INTO ESCAPEVILLE!!! THEN THE PROBLEM HAPPENED RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THE SAMSUNG BD-P1500 BLU-RAY PLAYER, THEIR LATEST MODEL. I THOUGHT TOGETHER THEY WOULD EMIT A SUPER BLU-RAY EXPERIENCE.
While watching the TV, I can change the aspect ratio using the TV remote or the Time-Warner cable remote, and I can fill the screen if desired to remove any letter-box video, but I have a complaint which I already voiced to Samsung. When using the Blu-Ray player the zoom function available during TV watching cannot be accessed, and I am forced to watch letter box versions of the video whether I like it or not, even though the cable remote was able to pick-up other functions of the Blu-Ray player. The option dissappears. 20% OF THE VIEWING SCREEN IS LOST IN THE 16X9 ASPECT RATIO WHEN VIEWING MOVIES FILMED IN THE 2.40.1 OR 2.35.1 ASPECT,SUCH AS "DEJA VU", "I AM LEGEND", BUT ANYTHING FILMED USING THE 1.85 WIDESCREEN MODE, LIKE "THE QUEEN" OR "HOLLOW MAN", WILL FILL THE TV SCREEN, WHICH IS A MUCH MORE ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. The "level 3" Samsung technician said it cannot be done. Is he uninformed, ignorant, or just plain lieing? I replaced a 32" Magnavox TV with the Samsing 40" LN40A550, but the lesser quality Magnavox had an automatic option which pulled any picture to fill the screen if desired. Go figure. A $1200 TV and a $400 blu-ray player are outperformed by a lowly Magnavox when it comes to aspect ratios.
THE TRUE TEST IS WHEN I ATTACHED THE SAMSUNG BD-P1500 TO THE MAGNAVOX 32MF231D. GUESS WHAT OCCURRED? WHEN I PRESSED THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON ON THE TV IT PULLED THE PICTURE UP AND FIT THE ENTIRE SCREEN, WHICH IS THE OPTION THE SAMSUNG IS LACKING. I HOPE OTHERS WRITE IN AND MAYBE A FIRMWARE DOWNLOAD WILL MATERIALIZE. I'm now sure the Samsung technician, who said the digital picture couldn't fill the screen under any circumstances, was lost somewhere between ignorant and lieing. - 2008-05-29, 4 of 8 people found this review helpful, Rated:
