- Don't Waste Your Money
- I am a real estate investor who specializes in helping people avoid foreclosure. As part of my business I knock on people's door who are in foreclosure. I offer to buy their house before the bank forecloses. I needed a software where I can import my lists into a mapping utility. I was hoping to save hours of time, except that...
IT DOES NOT WORK!!!
In Arizona we are on a modified grid system. For example, 7811 W. Kateri Dr. should be near 78th Ave, right? Not according to Delorme's handy mapping software! Delorme has it located near 53rd Ave. Argh! This isn't isolated to one or two addresses--they're all wrong (except for maybe one or two addresses).
I have wasted hours trying to get it to work. Fortunately, I'm familiar with the area. It would be 10 times worse if I were using it on an out-of-town trip. What a nightmare!
That's just the mapping software. The little GPS tracker has no accuracy. It shows me being off the road, or on the wrong street, or going the wrong direction. It's just as bad.
I'm not being sarcastic. Delorme has been around a long time, but you wouldn't know it after using their software. Unless they can continue to sell their product to naive people, I suspect they won't be around in a few ywars.
Save your money and your time. Learn from my mistake: DON'T BUY THIS SOFTWARE! ! ! ! - 2008-09-26, 1 of 2 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Needs work
- I knew going in that this wouldn't be a simple turn on and go anywhere device, but I never guessed how complicated it would turn out to be. The GPS device itself is fine, the bluetooth connected to my IPAQ without any problems, but thats where it ended being easy.
The PC mapping software is very difficult to use, it was a good 30 minutes before I figured out how to even see my own city. The tutorials were useless, and the user interface is useful, but very complex.
Also, the maps themselves are highly primitive, not much more than simple line drawings, I'm still trying to figure out if I can get a better map for it.
I would only recommend this for those who want flexibility of uses for GPS devices, but not for ease of use. - 2008-08-20, 1 of 1 people found this review helpful, Rated:
