Good so far
We are enjoying this DVD player.
Pros:
Easy to work / understand
Has the resume feature - just push stop then turn the player off. When you get back in the car, just turn the player back on and it will automatically resume
Swivel feature is very nice!!
Good brand has a longer warranty than others I looked at
Seems very sturdy - no sorries that the swivel will break (my husband even dropped it out of the truck and it is fine!)
Good screan size
Decent volume - We mounted it between the front seats and with road noise it was hard to hear from the 3rd row of my mother-in-law's suburban. But, we could hear it if noone talked and I think that's good for a portable DVD player.
Cons:
Widescrean - if you have a lot of full screan version DVD's (a lot of our children's movies are.) then you don't get the benefit of the larger screan and I think it may be better to go with the 8in screan.
From day one the noise it makes as it's loading the DVD was loud. It sounded scary like it had to be scratching the DVD. But, it works great and does not scratch.
It's not the most stylish and I think it only comes in this one color. It's not at all ugly, it just has this sturdy look like it's built for quality not style. Probably more appealing to guys than girls.

Good value
Arrived as promised. Screen image good. Had a little trouble with the remote, but not significant.

solid performer, not outstanding
Give this a 4 stars bc of its solid build and up-to-par functionality(the smaller Sony FX820 is more hi-tech more friendly w/ more large-screen capability)
However, it has some grinding noise at times and does not have the upconvert capability (by which a 4.3 format smoothly becomes a 16.9 without visible distortion)
Nevertheless, it is acceptable for children movies which do not require Hi-fi, hi-res and large screen across.
4 stars (but barely) for the metalic feel and very acceptable cosmetics and price.

NICE!
Great price---great sound---connects to your TV, if needed---it is so light compared to older portable DVD players---easy to use and the screen is bigger than the average one. Long lasting battery charge, too! I bought this for a gift, but would like one for myself. Worth buying!!

Toshiba SD-P1S Portable DVD Player
This DVD player is very good but I do have trouble with the control buttons. Black on black lettering is very hard to see if you are watching a movie and want to either pause, fast forward or back up and are also a senior citizen. Other than that it has good resolution and sound and the battery has a nice longer life than other players.
