- Great player; great price!
- Just got this through Amazon.com after some pretty extensive shopping around. Great price! Also, a great player. One issue I've read about a number of b/r players is that the discs load slow. Not so with this one. Load time for both blu-ray and dvd is less than 30 seconds. I connect through component cables (I probably bought the last generation of flat screen tv's that didn't have HDMI), and the picture is fantastic!! Not as good as a newer gen flat panel, but still better than dvd. Already did a firmware upgrade via USB. Super easy!!! Altogether, I'm very pleased with the player and highly recommend it!

- Great, fast, player...
- We just signed up for Netflix and I had purchased the superior HD DVD player a while ago before they were sunk by big companies. Well, as you know, HD DVD is in Hades with BetaMax and others....Netflix has BluRay discs and so I purchased this player from Amazon after researching here and at cnet.com
First noticeable difference is that it fires up and is ready in no time. My HDDVD player took forever (start it up, go make a sandwich, get a beer, and then MAYBE, you'll be able to put the disc in). I put a "regular" DVD in and it started play right away and I noticed a difference in image quality (the Samsung upconverts, blah, blah). I couldn't wait so I bought my daughter the Bee Movie in BluRay and WOW!!!; it's out of this world. I have HD programming thru cable for now and had the HD DVD (up to 1080i only) but 1080P is even better. It was stunning and the movie isn't a bad one either, I'm sure my kids will watch a couple hundred more times.
It has a LAN port, but the device is miles away from the cable modem and we use mostly wireless laptops at the house, so for the firm upgrade, I downloaded from Samsung's site, extracted the zip file, copied the upgrade file to a simple usb thumb drive, started the player up after removing the disc and the upgrade went off without a hitch, so I guess I can manage that, no problem.
I recommend for anyone wanting a bluray/regular player for $250...it's well worth the money. - 2008-10-02, 5 of 6 people found this review helpful, Rated:
