- Promising start, but...
- I had some problems with Sophia being a princess, but in the beginning, she was surprisingly likable - strong, determined, but not arrogant. However, this changed. She became very capricious and annoying, saying that she loves Gabriel one moment and ignoring him the next. She was often rude to him, telling him all sorts of horrible things.
When it comes to Gabriel, I have to say that I didn't like him in the previous two books of the series. He was simply boring and annoying. In this book, he didn't get much better. He had no back bone, he kept coming back to Sophia no matter what she did to him, he kept telling her he loved her and begging her not to leave him. And he was a bit too weepy for my taste. He was supposed to be a strong, fierce, fearless warrior, but he was crying every time he and Sophia were fighting. Yuk.
When it comes to the story... It dragged along most of the time. I was struggling to finish the book. And I find it quite annoying that all the characters from previous books keep appearing. It becomes quite disturbing. Why doesn't she just leave them alone?

- This book is worth your every pleasure ~ good read
- This is a story of one of my favorite hero-Gabriel. He is honorable, strong and sexy but tortured...until the right women - Sophia sets him free and finds his destiny with her. This is a good story and sensual read. Enjoy the adventure that Foley takes you on in this story.

- What a let down!
- I have always loved this author. But this book was a major let down. I would love to see her take some time to go back to her old writing style and put out some wonderful books again. If this is your first experience with Foley, please know that her other books are much better and give them a try.

- Not one of my favorite, but sad to see the end of the Knights
- I'm afraid that Gaelen Foley is being pressured by her publishers to get the books out quickly, because I've noticed the quality has gone down as the months between books has also gone down. This is a terrible shame, because she quickly became one of my favorite authors when I first read The Duke years ago. Unlike most reviewers, I really liked Lizzie and Alec's books; they were two of my favorites, actually. I never quite got into the Spice Trilogy, and this was actually my least favorite. The plot sounded good...definitely more exciting and interesting than Derek's book...but I just couldn't get into it. Foley put in the lovely words and such, but I didn't believe it. There was no magic, and I don't know why, but I didn't care what happened to any of them one bit.
I hate how Griff sounded in this book. He came off looking like a total jerk towards women.
But anyways, I'm sorry to see the Knight series end. Even if I didn't love the book, I still LOOOOOVE me some Knights. Love the Knights! The bottom line, though is that Gaelen Foley's books are better than most of what's out there, even ones I don't love.

- Spoiled Princess ruined this story
- By far this is the worst Gaelen Foley novel I have read and I have read every one of them. Usually I like her writing but have been unimpressed with the Spice trilogy.
Princess Sophia is on her way to let those British Diplomats know she is in charge of her royal little nation Kavros which is a Greek Island chain. She is twenty-one, in exile since she was three, barely remembers the island but is determined to let the British Foreign Office know she is in charge. Yes, Sophia is a bit imperious. And her arrogance at believing she can rule with no training is absurd but she puts herself constantly in the role of Cleopatra and Queen Elizabeth.
Her entourage is attacked and Sophia flees for her life leaving her lady in waiting and her close personal friend, Alexa, behind because, well, she is the princess and her life is so very important.
She finds a barn belonging to Gabriel Knight and changes into peasant dress to await her men. Before they retrieve her she is found by Gabriel who believes she is a doxy sent by his brother to tempt him back into the living. As a former cavalry officer, Gabriel is sick of death and is on his nice English farm to heal.
Sophia goes along with the Gabriel's misconception. Gabriel has pity on her and offers her a job as a maid. Sophia who has never done a day of labor in her life is so very tired after her one day of work. Gabriel is so blinded by her beauty that he can't connect the dots that she is not who she says she is; like how this commoner speaks with an upper crust accent and follows the ways of the ton and initially will not sleep with him. Sophia is appalled that he would think her common and want to bed her even though she herself claims to be a prostitute.
By the next day Sophia decides she wants to be intimate with Gabriel. However, Gabriel does not allow their lovemaking to go too far as he surmises she is a virgin. Sophia leaves him the next morning without a goodbye when her men arrive and does this to protect Gabriel from himself since he does not need anymore violence in his life because, of course, he would want to be with her
Later, Sophia asks that Gabriel be head of her security team. Never mind his personal demons, she needs him. Oh, and she would like to engage in a little affair on top of his bodyguard duty. Gabriel's feelings are never in her thought process. She is allowed to actively search for a royal husband but Gabriel is not allowed to engage in an affair with someone else. Gabriel is pretty much willing to let her set the tone and conditions of their union. He never came across as a bold, daring hero because he could not stand his ground against her royal highness.
