This system works well
Just received this and coupled it with an HP 22" LCD. Everything worked fine out of the box. Comes with a cd backup of the Vista 64 bit operating system and a backup of everything else is located on the D: partition of the harddrive, which they recommend you make into a cd or dvd recovery disk. The onboard video does not have DVI but surprisingly has an HDMI output instead which can be connected to a monitor with either HDMI or DVI-D inputs using appropriate cables. I highly recommend using DVI-D or HDMI connections (not standard VGA) with any modern LCD monitors that support digital inputs - it makes a clear difference. (I will be using a separate higher end video card anyway.) This is a fast and reasonably well built system - very good value for the money (it was $599 when ordered). My systems are usually very high end custom configurations built for an imaging lab, but I have had Gateways before at home and relatively few problems over the years.
Apparently one Amazon customer did not have a good experience with whatever Gateway computer he got (unspecified) and proceeded to give bad ratings to this and all other Gateway systems on the Amazon site. I am sorry for his trouble but I also do not think it appropriate to degrade all the rest of the products from that company.

Trust me-you do NOT want a piece of this action!
We bought a Gateway desktop and Windows got hosed for some reason. We called 1-800-GATEWAY for support. Guess what? If you buy a Gateway anywhere but their website you must call a separate toll number. WTF!? Then we needed to restore it but the restore partition was bad. Had to get the recovery disk. They charged me $20 for a $1 CD-R. Then it wouldn't work, and they wanted to charge me to tell me how to use it. Again WTF? These people are horrible. Save yourself a lot of trouble and get a Mac. Anything but Gateway.
