In Sydney, Australia, Lenka was a teen actress who trained with Cate Blanchett, thereafter landing leading roles on stage, television and indie films. A self-described 'punk-ass art school student' and vocalist/keyboardist for acclaimed indie Electronic/ambient outfit Decoder Ring. She has flung herself into two new worlds simultaneously: she's moved to California and become a solo artist. Very Enjoyable!
I first heard "Trouble Is A Friend" on an episode of "Grey's Anatomy" and I went and bought the album the next day. Since then, the album has been playing constantly in my car. Every single song is great, which is really a unique thing these days. It makes wonderful background music if you just want to chill out and relax in a good mood.
"Trouble Is Friend" is my favorite song on the album. I can just listen to it over and over again. I also like "The Show", "Bring Me Down" and "Knock Knock."
Overall, I recommend if you're a fan of Sarah Bareilles, Feist, Jem...

Enchanting voice with a beautiful array of accompanying instruments! DEBUT ARTIST!!
I first heard Lenka's voice on the 5th episode of Grey's Anatomy latest season and was taken aback by her resonating voice! I found a couple more of her songs on youtube and she was just mesmerizing!! Plus, a variety of cellos, violins, pianos, etc all keep your interest when her voice is gone. If you like Dido, Regina Spektor and/or Jem, this girl is right up your alley!! And btw, this is just her debut! Track 7 (Trouble is a Friend) and Track 6 (Dangerous and Sweet) are favorites but overall, very very positive experience - I have only the highest praise for this debut CD!!

Listening to this CD Just Makes Me Happy
Having a rotten day? Slip in this upbeat CD from Australian singer Lenka and get a little zing of upbeat pop music. This talented singer-songwriter has created a wonderful collection of hummable tunes -- there's really not a bad track on this album. I'm a middle-aged mom who usually sticks to show tunes, but this whimsical, thoughtful, cheerful album appeals to all my sing-along sensibilities. My teenage daughters love her, too.
I first heard of Lenka while watching last week's "Grey's Anatomy." Her addictive song "Trouble is a Friend" was played during the closing minutes of the show. I wrote down the name of the CD and ordered it immediately. I have been listening to it ever since. I just love the beat, I love the lyrics, I love the tunes. This is my kind of music. Can't wait to hear her next effort.
