From A70 to SD990 IS: I purchased a Canon Powershot SD990 IS camera after my five-year old Powershot A70 died due to a sensor failure. (Even though the camera is long out of warranty, if I return it to Canon, they will replace the sensor.)
Shutter Lag was a major problem with A70. The SD990 IS appears to have none.
Low-light photographs with the A70 were always blurred… More reviews

like my old camera better: maybe i dont know how to use it. but i had sony cybershot works way better. i like canon cause it take faster pictures. and better pictures at darker place. it auto adjust the color better than sony. but my sony was a touch screen. when i use manuel i can actsually point to where i want to focus on the screen with macro or not… More reviews

Powershot 990IS is Superb: I have had several digital cameras, and next to my Nikon D80, this is the best I have had. I am still learning all it can do. reload time is short, it takes nice movie clips, has intuitive controls and a nice feel in the hand. Pictures at the high resolution levels are great and can be blown up to poster size with no loss of detail. More reviews

Powerful Little Gem: I got the early version of this camera in Japan, sold as the IXY 3000 IS and am head over heels in love; this replaces an SD800IS which was a long time favorite. Fantastic Camera: I have now owned three different Canon cameras since I bought my first in 1999. My previous camera, an S60 was fantastic due to the fact that I could have more fine-grain control over my pictures than your typical point-and-shoot camera. This camera can do everything the S60 could and has a much higher resolution.
