Product Description

Voted "Best Newcomer" by BBC Music Magazine in 2006 and acclaimed as "Artist of the Year" in the prestigious Classic FM Gramophone Awards only a year later, 25-year-old Julia Fischer is already being hailed as one of the truly great violinists of the 21st century. Julia burst upon the international music scene at the 1995 International Yehudi Menuhin Competition by taking first prize as well as a special prize for "Best Bach Solo Work." It is only natural then that her Decca debut disc should feature Bach — this time the solo and double concertos. Julia is joined by the Academy of St Martin in the Fields in these strikingly sophisticated and technically brilliant performances.

Brilliant, instantly fell in love
After hearing this album on Rhapsody I am purchasing the CD for myself and will consider this for gifts in the future.
This album is absolutely brilliant and lively... I couldn't get through the the whole thing on Rhapsody before I was scrambling to buy the CD!   More reviews
Simply wonderful!
Of course I'm quite familiar with the Bach violin concertos, but I never had heard them played by Ms. Fischer. I started listening to this album late last night, with the full intention of listening to a couple of tracks and then going to sleep. I'm happy to say that Ms Fischer and the ASM kept me up very late... Like all great artists,…   More reviews

Like this. Good music. Good interpretations of Bach. Good for listening and worth listening to over again.   More reviews
Hi, Julia!
These are the excerpts from recent concert reviews on February 12, 2009
"She is a formal, severe artist, evidently uneasy with being marketed as yet another fetching young violinist."
"Fischer's sense of purpose, which can be felt in every note she plays, obviously overrules any sense of humor when it comes to the great masters. That may be what…   More reviews
Nice performance
Julia Fischer strikes me as the new Anne-Sophie Mutter, and my previous favourite version of these 3 gorgeous concerti was the Mutter one with Salvatore Accardo and the ECO, recorded when Frl. Mutter was about three-and-a-half. So, I played them one against the other - and I'm torn. Both ladies play with precision and flair and joy,…   More reviews
