- Over Priced by Vendor
- What's up with the outrageous price here? The vendor here has almost tripled the recommended retail price of this toy. It should retail for $70-$89 dollars. The $179 asking price is internet robbery, and is based soley on the fact that Toys R Us sold out so quickly. I found the toy at Target and paid $79 for it. This is a great toy for kids - over the age of 7 or so (Marbles are easily lost and or swallowed), we did notice you need to purchase a separate cable to plug in the Ipod - cable is not included.
Other than that, my kids love it. - 2007-12-26, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- FANTASTIC!! hours and hours of fun!!
- When my son opened this on christmas eve morning, he was so happy. once I put it together, everything clicked in my head on how these things work. My 7 and 4 year old sons then got hooked on this and have built all kinds of neat roller coasters. they leave it for a few hours to play with it then knock it down and build another one again. they have come up with some pretty cool configurations. I dont know how anyone can rate this any less than five stars, as it is very educational and good for hours and hours of fun. My sons have learned about polarity and gravity. If my kids can build this without it coming apart anyone can!!

- sorry, send her back to the drawing board!
- We think that Magnetix has a great idea, but it still needs some work. We tried really hard to get it to be fun....but it ended up being frustrating and touchy. The set up directions were easy to follow. The problem seems to be in that the frame, when built, can not handle the weight or volicity of the magnetic balls that ride the coaster. We have a good deal of patience and decided not to keep this toy for our 8 year old's x mas gift...need to return it~
We reccomend not buying it, wait until they come up with a more solid model. And we hope they will! Most of these magnetix toys are a blast! - 2007-12-26, 3 of 3 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Not all that
- The magnetic connections are very weak, which allow the tracks to disconnect very easily, and very difficut to align properly. The tracks come loose at very slight contact, and will not remain stable on carpeted fooring.

- Not for a bull in a china shop
- Hesitated to purchase for my 11 year old for Christmas when I saw that the suggested ages were 6+. I don't think this is for a six year old. I think a six - nine year old would very much enjoy it, but I submit this would be because an adult did the majority of work.
For two or three Christmases we purchased whatever K'nex monster project that was on the market. Enjoyed them, but they ended up being two-three day projects. After they were done we didn't dare tear them down and rebuild it with a different variation.
Since my son enjoys "Thrillville" on the Wii so much (the player is an amusement park operator and building roller coasters is on of the main activities in this game), I though we would take a chance on this. I'm pleased with the purchase, for the most part.
The good is two fold: this takes a lot of effort to get right. When you connect pieces together they have to be just right. From an adult perspective it's easy to see when something is a little off. Fron an 11 yo perspective, it's the marble going off the track this is usually his first clue something is amiss. When it does work it's really neat.
The bad is it can be frustrating. Even when the marble successfully makes it back to the start line, the force of the marble over a few/many trips on the track can knock something out of line enough to send it sailing to the floor. Before I forget, you need a level, hard surface. I don't think this would work on any type of carpet. My son spend about 90 minutes with it this Christmas morning and had many successful runs with it, but also walked away in frustration a couple of times.
He's watching Shrek 3 right now, so I'm glad that was in the stocking too. But I am also glad we purchased the I-Coaster. - 2007-12-25, 0 of 0 people found this review helpful, Rated:
