- Maybe Good but So Many Defective That Who Could Know; Wasted My Time
- We could not even get our unit to charge. The idea is great and I guess for some people who get a good unit, it is even a good implementation. But if you read the reviews, a huge number of people have the exact same issue as I have.
We follow the instructions exactly to charge it before use. The unit beeps (a shrill scream is more accurage) incessantly and does not charge. Then they contact customer support and usually after a couple of calls they say that it is a bad unit and needs to be serviced or exchanged. The people say no and return it to the store and buy a new one. Sometimes that one works and sometimes it doesn't.
Perhaps so few work because the ones that remain in the stores are all the returned ones that refuse to charge. That has certainly been my experience. Mines going right back from whence it came.
After wasting about 2 hours, I, like so many others, am done. Black & Decker may have a quality product (maybe not, I'm in no position to discern), but they definitely have poor quality control. - 2008-01-07, 4 of 4 people found this review helpful, Rated:
- Piece of Junk - Chirps nicely though
- On my second and last one - have been unable to get the thing charged - it just chirps. B&D's answer is to turn it off and on a few times - I have a better answer - another brand. One star is the least I can give it.

- Yet another example of outsourcing
- Still haven't received a unit that works correctly yet. Poor workmanship, cheap circuitry is the result of yet another once reliable American brand name utilizing overseas manufacturing to pad the bottom line. I would not have even purchased the product initially if I would've read some reviews.

- Works for me - but not withou problems.
- I tested my new battery charger on my Toyota Prius and it works - but not without problems at first. I started by charging the device through a regular power outlet. I didn't have any problems with charging it. I then took it to my car. The car battery had a little juice left (enough to start the car) but I wanted to see whether the charger/booster could fully charge the car battery. It did not work when the car was fully turned off. I then started the car on "accessory" mode and then plugged in the charger (as directed by the instructions). Not only did it not charge the battery. It drained it and as a result I could no longer start the car! I tried to charge it again, this time with the car was in full start-up mode. After a few minutes of charging, it worked and it did fully charged the car battery. Hope this comment could help those who couldn't get it working on a Prius.

- terrible
- It just shrieks when we try to charge it. Nearest service center is 30 minutes away. Black & Decker should pay for us to ship this heavy gadget for an exchange!
